Stone Soup, the parent group around food in school at Lawrence, a public K-8 school in Brookline, is proud to present our third annual Food Day Festival on Thursday, October 23rd, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. in the Big Gym.
We stage the Food Day Festival at Lawrence in conjunction with national Food Day with the help of a number of local non-profits and purveyors of food to raise food awareness and increase food literacy. Kids and their caregivers get to taste, touch and identify fresh fruits and vegetables, participate in and judge a recipe contest, try handcrafted breads, dinners and drinks, make their own creations, play games and learn about the food they eat. We look forward to seeing you there!
Details on the Recipe Contest!
Any Lawrence student can pick a favorite savory (not sweet or dessert) dish to make (adult help is ok), and bring a container of it (labeled with your name and the ingredients) at the start of the festival so that many other students can sample a bite and vote for your dish.
The top four vote getters will win the following prizes!
First Prize: Farmers to You delivery of amazing food straight from Vermont farmers.
Second Prize: Boston Organics delivery of assorted local organic fruits and vegetables.
Third Prize: Trader Joe’s food basket filled with surprises.
Fourth Prize: a whole year’s subscription to ChopChop cooking magazine for kids.
